Before you start ordering furniture and accessories, it is a good idea to visualize which theme you would like the nursery to have. Do you want sports for your little boy, or paisley for your little girl, a fun jungle theme, maybe animal print, or perhaps a nautical theme? Whatever you decide will be the anchor on which the décor of the room will be based.
Once the theme is chosen, you will need to select your color scheme. Having a boy? You may want go with traditional blue tones and incorporate another color such as brown, green or yellow. If your having a girl, you may want to choose pink or fuchsia and include soft green, yellow or even brown. Or if you don’t know the gender and are leaving it a surprise, neutral colors or bright colors such as yellow, green, orange or brown work very well. After these decisions have been made, you are now ready to go shopping! Make yourself a list, baby furniture including the crib and the crib bedding set, “must have” nursery accessories, and organizational items.
